GA IASIU was founded in 1994 by a group of SIU personnel that would regularly meet at the Shoney’s Inn near Charlie Brown Airport. The group later moved its meetings to Manual’s Tavern, Atlanta.

Developed and delivered POST certified insurance fraud training to police Officers. Original instructors were Leo Shatzel, Leah Cunningham, Debbie Hatfield, and Walter Swett. The training continued about 2000.

Tiffany Hughes resigned as President in 2005 prior to the end of her term.

2008 - Implementation of the Chapter, Investigator of the Year Award which was given to Beth Shroat, Progressive Insurance. Beth went on to win the 2008 IASIU Investigator of the Year.
2008 - CIFI Exam offered at the Annual Seminar and again at the National Seminar
June 2008 GA IASIU partnered with Lojack for Laptops and Nationwide Insurance and donated a laptop to Atlanta PD for use in a covert Bait Laptop Operation. The operation resulted in the recovery of about 45 stolen laptops and 6 felony arrests and the shutting down of a fencing operation.

2009 Marguerite Girard awarded Georgia Investigator of the Year

Marguerite Girard was elected to the Board of Directors at the 03.18.2010 annual meeting, but resigned for personal reasons at which time Peggy Kingman was appointed to the position to fill out the 2010 – 2012 term.
Monthly meetings were held at Piccadilly Restaurant, Tucker, GA throughout 2010, 2011 & 2012.
2010 The annual seminar was approved by GA DOI and GA POST for 4 hrs of credits. There were 102 registered attendees and 14 vendor/sponsors. This was the first year of the two tiered sponsorship – Platinum and Gold. Platinum sponsors got 10 minutes to make a pitch of their company to attendees.

2010 Launched a billboard campaign in conjunction with NICB, OAAG, Nationwide, State Farm, GEICO, Direct Auto and Safe Auto.

Michael Arline of Hanover Insurance was selected as the Investigator of the Year at the March 2013 seminar.
Public Service awards for 2013 went to Drew Lane and the Georgia Department of Insurance Fraud unit and to Doug Williams with the State Board of Worker’s Compensation.
